The Andalusian Municipality Fund for International Solidarity, FAMSI, is a network of provincial and local governments. City Councils and provincial governments have been joined by other entities such as NGDOs, universities, foundations, research centres, rural development groups and businesses, that have added foreign action and solidarity to their tasks. The aim of the FAMSI is to bring about change conducive to building a fairer reality for everyone, through the active involvement of all the partner institutions and entities.
Andalusia is the most populated autonomous community in the country (8 500 187 inhabitants in 2021) and the second largest (87 599 km²).

379 Andalusian municipalities register a youth index higher than the one registered for the whole of Andalusia (15.25%), the distribution of young people is higher in medium-sized municipalities 5000-10000, followed by those with up to 20000 inhabitants, it is interpreted that, in this period, these municipalities gather the quality of life and more economic services than the big cities, having these and the small municipalities the lowest youth index in 14.30%.
The Andalusian economy is the third largest economy in Spain in terms of the size of its gross domestic product. The per capita income of the region stood at €20,018 in 2021, which is still one of the lowest in Spain.
In terms of employment, 73.4% of those employed work in the Services sector, while the Agriculture, livestock, forestry and fishing sector accounts for 12.7%, Industry, energy, water and waste management for 8.0% and Construction for 5.9%.
It should be noted that 15.21% of young Andalusians work in technical, scientific and intellectual occupations.
In 2021, the highest unemployment rate was recorded, with 22.54% of the population unemployed; currently, the unemployment rate in Andalusia stands at 18.3%.
In 2021 the number of pensions received by retired people and the inactive population in Andalusia was 1,600,886, growing by 1.6% on average per year.
According to surveys carried out by the PVE (Spanish platform for volunteering) in July 2021, the volunteer population in Spain is around 6.6% of the population over 14 years of age. With an increasing trend in people over 44 years old and a decreasing trend in older people, understanding the fear of contagion in the context of COVID 19.
There is an increase in the number of volunteers as the level of education and employment status increases, with more people participating in unpaid work, students, socioeconomic status, and the highest rates are found in municipalities with between 10,000 and 50,000 inhabitants.
The most relevant beneficiary groups are children and young people, followed by vulnerable groups, and in the education and social fields.
